Most of you have seen a Bamboo tree or at least Bamboo. Do you know how long it takes for the Bamboo seed to grow as tall as a building?. No!
It’s ok.
Let me tell you the story on the growth of the Bamboo tree, It’s been one of my all-time favorites from the very first time I heard it from Rahul Dravid in an interview. A farmer planted Bambo seeds on his farm and cared for them really well. He made sure that they got adequate water, fertilizer, and sunlight on day to day basis.
But he got disappointed when he saw nothing came out from the Bamboo seeds in the first year, but the man did not give up on the Bamboo.
In the second year, he got surprised when from the Bamboo seeds, nothing came out. Still! the farmer believed in what he did, continued caring for the Bamboo seeds, and did not quit. But his neighboring farmers were producing multiple harvests a year and living a better life.
In the third year, there was still nothing from the bamboo seeds, his family and relatives lost hope in him and neighboring farmers started laughing and mocking him. But the farmer realized he has come far ahead to go back now so he decided not to give up and made sure that seeds got adequate water, fertilizer, and sunlight on day to day basis.
In the fourth year, once again he saw nothing come from the Bamboo seeds, the farmer was devastated, started questioning his abilities, fate, and God. Left with no better options, he gathered all the courage left in him one last time and persevered.
Made sure that Bamboo seeds got adequate water, fertilizer, and sunlight on day to day basis.
While neighboring farmers and villagers declared him as mad!.
It was in the fifth year, that the man saw a tiny sprout emerge from the earth.
The Bamboo sprout was tiny and insignificant, but in just 6 months from then, the Bamboo shot up to over 100 feet tall turning his farm into the thick green forest.
The farmer realized “the Bamboo had spent those five years growing its roots. It was those roots that created a strong foundation and gave it all that is needed to survive, thrive, and grow tall as a building”.
“The farmer set to become the richest person ever lived in the village“
If there is a challenge that you are facing in your professional or entrepreneurial career remember that, “all the time you are spending dealing with challenges you have actually been growing roots.” Take a deep breath to relax! be patient, keep watering, fertilizing, & providing sunlight to your dreams. Apka time aayega (your time will come), you will shoot up high as well just like a Bamboo tree.
Everything! in life happens at the right time. Never! Give Up.
I start early and I stay late, day after day, year after year, it took 17 years and 114 days to become an overnight success. @Lionel Messi.
This story ‘resonates’ with my investing journey. I am emotionally attached to this article than any of the articles I ever wrote. Just remember! Never Give Up On Your Dreams.
Great story
